Senior Development Officer

We have an immediate opening for the role of Senior Development Officer who will be play a pivotal role in advancing the fundraising goals of Easter Seals Alberta. This individual is responsible for cultivating relationships with major donors, managing a portfolio of prospects, designing donor engagement strategies, and securing philanthropic support to sustain and grow the organization’s programs.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record in fundraising, excellent communication skills, and a passion for building meaningful partnerships that drive impactful change.
As Senior Development Officer you will be responsible for:
Prospect Identification
Conduct thorough prospect research and screen prospective donors based on capacity and interest, matching them to key organizational priorities.
Work with fundraising and program staff to align donor opportunities with organizational priorities.
Cultivation
Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Develop and deliver presentations at donor meetings and events to communicate the organization’s vision and achievements.
Partner with program teams to understand funding needs and effectively communicate the impact of donor contributions.
Renew and upgrade current annual individual donors through in-person solicitation and/or strategic proposals based on priority goals of the organization.
Solicitation
Collaborate with the Development team to develop and implement multi-channel fundraising campaigns, from planning and concept development to ensuring all fundraisers are delivered on time and on budget.
Create highly personalized, compelling proposals and solicitation materials for prospective donors, ensuring each engagement is aligned with their interests and capacity to give.
Develop and execute a structured and strategic approach to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects.
Develop opportunities, build relationships, and execute annual giving strategies to increase individual donor engagement, loyalty, and generosity.
Stewardship
Develop thank-you templates and other donor recognition materials for use by the wider team.
Develop personalized engagement strategies to enhance donor loyalty and increase giving levels.
Organize and manage in-person donor visits, telephone outreach, and special events aimed at cultivating relationships and deepening donor engagement.
Support stewardship initiatives, ensuring donors are meaningfully engaged and thanked through personal outreach, recognition events, and customized communication.
Data & Revenue Management
Maintain a sustainable data management processes including campaign data management, and documentations of donor communication preferences and donor journey touchpoints.
Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and outcomes for senior leadership.
Analyze donor data to identify trends, measure the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives, and inform decision-making.

Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fundraising, development, or a related field.
Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and meeting/exceeding fundraising goals.
Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and reports.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
Strategic thinking and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Other:
The Senior Development Officer is 35 hours/week and reports to the Director of Philanthropy.
This position will require a mix of remote work and in office, or at our camp property.
Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Provide tours of Easter Seals Camp Horizon as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is a requirement for this position.
A Police Information Check and a Vulnerable Sector Search are conditions of employment.
