Environmental Operations Analyst
Public Works – Operations Support
Regular Full-Time
Pay Band: $78,336 - $97,920 per annum
Work Mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Overview:
The Operations Support team serves as the backbone of our infrastructure management efforts. Our dedicated team coordinates and facilitates essential services across multiple departments, ensuring seamless delivery of public works operations. We provide administrative, logistical, and technical support to field crews, manage resource allocation, respond to service requests, and maintain critical documentation and reporting systems.
The role:
The Environmental Technical Analyst role provides comprehensive support to the Manager of Engineering Technical Services and Environmental Advisors. This position encompasses diverse responsibilities including coordinating corporate and departmental initiatives such as E-Government and Servicing Strategies, while managing both internal and external projects. The analyst will oversee coordination with Environmental Roster Vendors, handle project setup on the SoilFLO application, and lead internal process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you’ll do:
- Collect and analyze data to support the Excess Soils/Environmental Program development, including key performance metrics.
- Configure projects in the Region's SoilFLO digital tracking system following project manager approvals.
- Provide technical support for SoilFLO configuration and maintenance to meet specific project requirements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for SoilFLO that ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Coordinate with external vendors on the Region's Roster to address project-specific requirements.
- Perform quality assurance checks to maintain an up-to-date SharePoint Report repository.
- Work with capital project teams to coordinate schedules, resources, and project milestones.
- Bridge communication between Environmental Advisors and capital teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
- Assist with operational activities at the Chinguacousy Beneficial Soil Reuse Site.
- Help identify and develop new soil reuse opportunities throughout Peel.
- Track and document soil management activities at the Chinguacousy site to ensure efficiency and regulatory compliance.
- Support the review process for Non-Potable Groundwater Site Condition Standards applications.
- Lead the development and enhancement of information systems to improve departmental operations.
- Represent the Section on external committees and working groups as needed.
- Oversee internal and external projects with focus on proper coordination, communication, and resource utilization.
- Lead internal process documentation and improvement initiatives, including addressing audit concerns.
- Conduct technical and management research to support departmental objectives.
- Deliver operational support across various Engineering Technical Services areas including road permits, infrastructure connections, surveys, and GIS records.
What we require:
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Engineering/Technology.
- Strong environmental background in soil and groundwater sampling, analysis and reporting.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent chairing abilities for meetings.
