Summary of responsibilities:
The Senior Advisor, IT Network Administrator leads the planning, design, and optimization of CATSA’s enterprise-wide IT network infrastructure. They are responsible to actively install, maintain, monitor, and manage the network within CATSA’s IT network environment, spanning designated airports, regions, and data centers. The focus is on ensuring optimal network performance and proactively identifying and resolving any network issues that may arise. The Senior Advisor, IT Network Administrator performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology/Management, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in an information technology role.
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in a senior network administrator role managing, deploying, and configuring of IT infrastructure architecture of network, server, and end-user computing environments.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise network solutions, including but not limited to switch, router and access point technologies, and related protocols and applications.
- Experience configuring VLANs, IP, Routing, ACLs on routers and switches.
- Experience with the integration of new technology into an existing IT infrastructure.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting layer 2 to layer 7 complex network issues.
- In-depth knowledge of information technology and communications protocols such as DHCP, ARP and DNS.
- In depth knowledge of the seven layers of the OSI model and network protocols such as TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, ARP, STP, SNMP, ICMP etc.
- In depth knowledge of routing network protocols such as Static and OSPF.
- In-depth knowledge of Network Access Control (NAC) authentication protocols such as 802.1X and Radius server policy configuration.
- In-depth knowledge of Network redundancy and meshing protocols such as LACP, VRRP. MLT and SMLT.
- Knowledge of wireless networks standards, security protocols, frequency management and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of configuring and/or reviewing firewall and VPN router rules and/or logs for troubleshooting user connectivity issues.
- Knowledge of corporate WAN infrastructures, backhaul technologies, WAN, and Internet routing protocols.
Valuable skills include:
- Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.
- Knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure administration in a secure environment.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
- Knowledge of network security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of Linux operating system management.
- Hands on experience troubleshooting network issues using Wireshark.
- Hands on experience configuring Avaya/Extreme Networks devices is considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of IPv6.
- Knowledge of server virtualization technologies such as VMWare.
Specific work requirements:
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to travel as required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
