Learning Support Assistant (Part-Time Permanent)
The Centre for Autism Services Alberta is looking for part-time Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in Edmonton and surrounding areas to work with Autistic children.
LSAs work as collaborative members of multidisciplinary teams and work one-to-one implementing individualized services plans with clients. They implement strategies and programming under the direction of the multidisciplinary team to support skills in the areas of behaviour, communication and socialization, cognitive abilities, motor skills, and self-help and adaptive living skills.
This is a great introductory position for those interested in pursuing careers in education or special education, rehabilitation, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, behaviour analysis, psychology, or disability studies.
Hours of Work: 4 – 20 hours per week, with session times available throughout the day to fit your schedule. Individual sessions are 2 hours in length and can be scheduled individually or back-to-back on weekdays and weekends to balance your working needs with the availability and preferences of the clients and families.
Most clients are in elementary school, so sessions are often scheduled after school and on weekends.

Requirements:
- Completing a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Courses in psychology, behavior analysis, education, social work, disability studies, nursing, rehabilitation, early childhood development, occupational therapy or speech language pathology are considered an asset
- Minimum 6 months experience working or volunteering with children/youth
- Additional experience working with Autistic and/or neurodivergent people is an asset
- Completion of required training prior to formal hiring and placement
- Clear Police Information Check, Clean Intervention Record check and valid Standard First Aid with CPR – Level C
- Able to access reliable transportation to and from placement(s)
- Strong communication skills
- Strong desire to work with Autistic children/youth and their families
- Good understanding of childhood development
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to adapt to changing needs of families and children/youth
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

- Salary: From $21.87 per hour
