Resilient Hearts is a social services organization dedicated to empowering young adults with developmental disabilities. Through our innovative programs, we focus on building independence, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.
Our day program provide engaging, creative, and meaningful activities such as art, music, peer connections, and life skills development. By offering inclusive programming, we help participants build confidence, explore interests, and foster a sense of belonging in the Calgary community.

Opportunity: Peer Mentor
Location: Calgary, AB (Onsite – in-person at Main Office)
Duration: 3–6 months (Possibility of Extension)
Reports To: Services Manager
Role Overview
We are seeking compassionate and enthusiastic Volunteer Peer Mentor to support our programs and participants. Peer Mentors play a key role in building a sense of belonging by offering encouragement, sharing lived experiences, and fostering inclusion. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through mentorship, participation in programming, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer peer-to-peer support to program participants during classes, activities, and events.
- Assist staff in creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
- Encourage participant engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Represent Resilient Hearts at events, workshops, and community outings.
- Provide feedback to staff on participant needs and program improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with others.
- Lived experience with disability, mentorship, or community involvement is an asset (but not required).
- Enthusiasm for inclusion, accessibility, and community-building.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
- Intervention Record Check is required
