Lifeguard & Swim Instructor (Full Time)
Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton
Salary: $36,400.00/yr - $39,705.00/yr
Start Date: Immediately

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidates will have the following;
Lifeguard:
· National Lifeguard - Pool certification;
· Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months); · Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
· Three professional references required.
Instructor:
· YMCA Swim Instructor or Swim for Life Instructor certification;
· Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset;
· Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months); · Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
· Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:
· Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
· Demonstrate exceptional customer service;
· Are knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services;
· Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing;
· Perform all scheduled water tests;
· Keep pool area clean and organized;
· Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and Procedures;
· Work as a team, communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations;
· Attend all scheduled in-services;
· Attend all necessary YMCA training.
