Indigenous Youth Coordinator - North (Full Time)

Salary: $40,483.00/year - $44,981.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:· Experience in strength-based program planning for Indigenous children and youth
· Diploma, certificate in Social Work or 2 years’ experience in working with Indigenous peoples and communities
· Demonstrated community-building skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills
· Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history and worldview
· Experience with Indigenous cultures, protocols and dynamics of working within the urban and rural Indigenous communities
· Demonstrated partnership and community building skills
· Skilled at working independently and within a team environment
· Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
· Reliable transportation as travel between sites is required
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include;
· Coordinate and implement the delivery of the new curriculum and to meet the needs of Indigenous high school-aged youth ensuring educational, cultural and social goals are met
· Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times
· Cultural knowledge and experience working with Elders and Cultural Advisors
· Maintain positive relationships with school staff
· Program planning and curriculum enhancement
· Manage a food and supply budget
· Collaboratively plan and organize department initiatives
· Administrative duties including program statistics, data entry, impact stories and month end/annual reporting
· Promote cross-cultural understanding and inclusive spirit among program participants, schools and colleagues
· Other department or association duties as required
· Duty Manager shift within respected branch
