Truck Driver II (Road Maintenance)

Contract Full-Time; 12 Months
Pay: $32.71 - $34.31 per hour

Work Mode: Onsite
Location: 2 Copper Road, Brampton, ON
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (4-day flexible work schedule currently in effect)
Shiftwork will be required during winter months. Stand-by rotation and overtime opportunities.
Who we are:
We dedicate ourselves to keeping your commute safe and comfortable through a comprehensive year-round maintenance program. Our dedicated crews tackle a variety of tasks to ensure smooth and reliable roadways. During the summer our crews install guideposts and guiderails, perform landscaping duties such as mowing grass, tree and brush removal, and maintain drainage systems by cleaning ditches and culverts. In the winter our focus shifts to snow and ice management, which involves erecting and removing snow fences, stockpiling salt and sand, and conducting night patrols for snow plowing. These comprehensive maintenance efforts ensure that the roads remain safe and passable throughout the year.
Position Overview:
Under general supervision, you'll play a vital role in maintaining Peel Region's road network by performing both manual and equipment operating duties.
In this role you will:
- Transport construction and maintenance materials and equipment.
- Responsible for all aspects of the load including tarping and tie downs. You may be required to assist in unloading.
- Operate combination unit for plowing, de-icing material spreading, liquid applications for anti-icing, road watering and snow removal operations.
- Perform snow clearing and material spreading activities in conjunction with contracted equipment in single or echelon format.
- Operate sewer flusher equipment for the purpose of road and entrance culvert cleaning activities.
- Perform routine road patrol duties and inspect road system assets and attributes and provide accurate feedback to foreperson/supervisor. Identify possible causes and suggest remedies.
- Accurately complete forms and reports both via written form and electronically using computer software.
- Accountable for tools, equipment and vehicles as assigned.
- May assist/perform other seasonal vehicle maintenance/repair duties such as mount/dismount of plow and harness.
- Apply Ministry and Regional safety precautions and procedures while performing duties and reports Health & Safety hazards.
- Maintain a neat appearance and performs duties in a way that conveys a "positive image" of the Region.
What the role requires:
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Class “DZ” license in good standing.
- Minimum one year job related experience.
- Physically able to perform all duties and requirements of the job.
- Able to read, write and understand and speak English.
- Must be capable of accurately completing work forms and reports.
- Training in Commercial Vehicle Operations Registrations (CVOR) is required.
- Ability assessment will be conducted by Fleet Safety.
