Advisor, Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Planning
Public Works - Water and Wastewater
Status: Regular Full
Salary Range: $110,870 to $138, 589 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits and vacation accrual)
Work Mode: Hybrid; 1 day per week on-site which can increase based on operational requirements *see below for more details about this work mode.
Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON
Hours of work: 35 Hours per week
Who we are: Infrastructure Planning, Partnerships and Compliance helps achieve our mission of "Providing Clean Water for Life" by protecting and managing our water resources, planning new water and wastewater infrastructure to meet growth demands, asset management planning to maintain the existing $26 Billion infrastructure in a state of good repair, planning and supporting water and wastewater regulatory compliance and quality management systems. We build and manage strategic partnerships with the Local Municipalities, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Conservation Authorities, and other municipalities and external agencies.
What you will do in this role:
- Implement the Region’s multi-year Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) Program in coordination with relevant stakeholders and as per Peel’s Vision and Council priorities
- Responsible for carrying out I&I studies and investigations to assess and re-baseline catchments and management of all I&I related data and analysis
- Carry out needs analysis and develop solutions. Prepare scope of work and budget for the recommended solutions for implementation
- Annual Performance reporting, audit and reset objectives
- Develop GIS datasets, maps, visual representations of data including advance charts and dashboards, and formulate information into presentations and technical reports, Council reports and executive summaries for various audiences including senior management and stakeholders
- Prepare the necessary Pre-qualification documents to identify consultants, contractors qualified to undertake the investigative and remediation work.
- Develop and prepare requests for tender (RFT), requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), technical specifications, forms of tender, and special provisions for projects.
- Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service with effective coordination of tasks and work of contractors. Work with internal stakeholders and Communications staff to ensure effective communications are available to impacted residents regarding the program
What the role requires:
- Degree in Civil/Water Resource Engineering or Environmental Science, or Certified Civil Engineering Technologist diploma (C.E.T)
- 10 years of relevant experience of planning, operational and construction experience with a focus on basement flooding and inflow and infiltration remediation strategies and contract management
- Preference for candidates with relevant professional certifications such as P.Eng., RPP, or PMP.
- 10 years operational experience in Wastewater Collection Systems, experience with basement flooding remediation strategies and as a Project Manager.
- Demonstrated experience in inspection and assessment of wastewater infrastructure is a must with specialized knowledge in remediation techniques and private property servicing configurations
- Must have a high level understanding/hands-on experience with GIS/CAD software and able to manipulate and produce GIS/Mapping/GoogleEarth data and data sets. Microsoft Office, PowerPoint,Visio, Word and advanced skills using Access and Excel, in managing/disseminating data to service planning/delivery functions
- The position requires in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of wastewater infrastructure characteristics and related functions (operations, materials, inflow/infiltration investigations)
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to participate in multiple project teams and represent/provide input and technical guidance into system operational, design and program initiatives and challenges
- Must have exceptional customer service skills that require the ability to convert technical information and recommendations into language to be understood by a variety of audiences (engineers, operators, and non technical staff), and contract administration and vendor management skills to administer external services

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
