Advisor, Policy
Health Services, Health Strategy, Planning and Partnerships
Status: Contract Full Time; Duration: 13 Months
Salary Range: $100,172 - $125,213 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits
Work mode: Hybrid* - on-site work based on operational needs
Location: 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON
Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Who we are: In collaboration with our partners, we provide a system perspective and specialized supports to achieve Regional and Health Services priorities and health program outcomes.
What you will do in this role:
- Provide expert advice and leadership to conceptualize, develop, implement strategies and tactical plans to manage issues related to healthy public policy
- Build internal and partner competency and capacity to lead through change and transformation Conduct research, develop, and advocate for policies that support health
- Evaluate and provide feedback on government policies at all levels that could impact health
- Communicate and encourage the adoption of essential policies and strategic initiatives
- Foster and sustain positive relationships with internal teams, corporate partners, and external stakeholders
- Collaborate on partnerships for resource and information exchange; participate in special projects, task forces, and other initiatives.
- Analyze issues and formulate approaches to develop policies that align with organizational objectives
- Support cross divisional initiatives and department-wide strategies
- Monitor the development of plan and reports for quality of policy analysis and use of evidence and take necessary actions
- Carry out additional responsibilities as needed
What the role requires:
- Masters degree in public health, political studies, public policy or a related discipline or Masters degree in a social science or health-related discipline together with training and experience in health policy or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Familiarity with policy analysis and public policy processes;
- Experience in delivering public presentations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate with senior managers, government officials, health professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Capability to think conceptually and strategically, providing expert advice to support both strategic and operational goals.
- Adaptability to work effectively in diverse situations and with various individuals and groups.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Nice to Have:
- Experience with evidence-informed policy development
- Experience or knowledge of health equity
- Proficiency in research techniques related to public health policy
- Experience or knowledge in public consultation and facilitation

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
