Position: VP Operations
Are you ready to take the next step in your career and join the Canada Management Board as the VP Operations for DHL Express Canada? This leader will be leading and directing the Operations function to drive our Motivated People strategy across the organization.
Reporting to the CEO of DHL Express Canada and a functional reporting line to the Senior Vice President of Network Operations & Aviation, this role will lead a team to plan, manage and direct the country operations. As the sixth largest inbound country in the network, this role will manage a function which is rapidly growing in a competitive market. You will be a key member of the Canadian Management Board, collaborating with Local, Country and Regional Teams to help build the future of Network Operations in Canada. In this leadership role, the selected candidate will be responsible for a team of almost 2000 frontline superstars. This includes the development of Operations strategies, which ensure a systematic approach to driving Great Service Quality, while embodying and role modeling the behavioral principles of Respect & Results focused leadership.

As a Passionate Operations professional, you will use your skill, influence, and enthusiasm to:
- Define country operations strategy and contribute to the overall country business strategy in line with country business vision and objectives, corporate guidelines, and policies.
- Plan, control and lead end-to-end logistics operations (pick up to delivery) for the country ensuring safety of people, data and goods.
- Lead implementation of strategic activities and initiatives across the country with significant risk potential and impact on overall results.
- Steer desired installation, functioning and adjustment of all material infrastructure.
- Direct preparation of operating budgets and proposals for investments and drive major operational investments.
- Oversee the opening or closing of facilities and evaluate operational aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
- Take decisions and authorize critical production agreements/ contracts with key accounts, changing terms and conditions significantly where required.
- Develop and monitor the applications of operating processes, systems and technologies, operating structure, and models, as well as workflow.
- Define processes and establish well-coordinated systems for providing adequate human resources and logistics infrastructure to deliver logistics services.
- Define and drive achievement of service and quality objectives across the country.
- Moderate and adjust operational capacities to changes/ growth in country business volumes and operational requirements to profitably deliver logistics services.
- Introduce and embed best in class operations and logistics practices at the country level.
- Deliver innovation that directly influence the way the country is operating and making money.

Do you have what it takes?
- Degree in business, engineering, or a related field and ideally an MBA
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in operations gained from one or more of the following organizations
- Negotiate critical agreements/contracts with other departments and 3rd parties
- Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders across DPDHL and partner organizations
- Influence others across DPDHL and externally as an internally and externally recognized thought leader representing the Group
- Champion cooperation and partnership to provide integrated solutions to problems
- Well-regarded, regionally focused passenger/combination carrier.
- Scheduled air cargo/express carrier and charter airlines as needed.
- Functional expertise in maintenance and engineering, flight operations, airport operations, and/ or system operations control.
- Prior success in driving down operating costs while improving reliability, managing the execution of operating activities through third-party service providers; negotiation and oversight of win-win major, large-ticket commercial agreements with suppliers.
- Strong relationships with government and regulatory agencies.
- Senior level representational experience, with strong professional network, reputation across the operations community.
- Strong business orientation with good business acumen.
- Excellent communication skills demonstrated fluency in written and spoken English, French a nice to have but not a requirement for the job.
- Good at establishing working relationships and developing personal contacts, Strong operational process knowledge, strong Negotiator and able to influence decision making.
- Champion and lead continuous improvement and high quality throughout functional team and organization. Also, interact effectively at cross-cultural, cross divisional and all business levels and make use of their informal and formal networks to build the commitment of senior stakeholders to outcomes which will have a major and lasting impact for DPDHL.
