Hourly Rate:
OIT: $29.09 - $30.50/hour (Plus an additional $3.00 hourly premium)
Operator II: $35.40 - $37.13/hour (Plus an additional $4.00 hourly premium)

The Role:
Under general supervision, performs manual and equipment operating duties in the performance of various Public Works construction, maintenance, or operational functions.
In this role you will:
- Perform physical work in all types of weather.
- Maintain, operate, and inspect water distribution and wastewater collection system assets.
- Perform water quality and system tests and takes corrective actions.
- Perform hand excavation, backfilling, restoration works, concrete work and pipe laying.
- Clean sewer mains, laterals and manholes of debris and sediment.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and regulations.
- Must be available to work over-time, on shift and participate in standby rotation.
- Perform duties in a way which conveys a ‘positive image’ of the Region of Peel.
What the role requires:
- Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
- OIT minimum acceptable MECP certification - Water Distribution Operator-in-Training (OIT) and Wastewater Collection Operator-in-Training (OIT).
- Operator II minimum acceptable MECP certification - Wastewater Collection Class 1 and Water Distribution Operator-In-Training (OIT) certificates OR Wastewater Collection Operator-In-Training (OIT) and Water Distribution Class 1 certificates with a preference for progressive advancement of certification to the subsystem class level.
- Must be capable of passing required testing for certifications/licensing.
- Minimum one (1) year of job-related experience preferred.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labour.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Capable of accurately completing work forms and reports.
- Must have working knowledge of computers.
- Must have knowledge of applicable regulations as they apply to compliance (i.e. Canadian Environmental Protection Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.)
- Must be able to maintain mandatory certifications and licenses.
- Possess a Class ‘G’ license in good standing with preference for ‘DZ’ or ‘AZ’.
- Testing may be required.
Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are currently in the bargaining unit.
Job Location: 3515 Wolfedale Road, Mississauga or 2 Copper Road, Brampton
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (4-day flexible work schedule currently in effect).
