2 Contract Part-Time Positions; duration 12 months
Hourly Rate: $27.98 - $29.33 per hour
Location and Work Mode:
Position 1: onsite at 2255 Battleford Road, Mississauga (Battleford CRC)
Position 2: onsite at 1126 Fewster Drive, Mississauga (Fewster CRC)
Hours of work Fewster: Mon & Fri: 9:30AM-5PM; Sat & Sun: 8:30AM-5PM
Hours of work: Battleford: Thurs & Fri: 9AM-4:30PM; Sat & Sun: 8AM-4:30PM
CUPE LOCAL 966 - Public Works
The role:
This position provides essential front-line support for Community Recycling Centers (CRC), ensuring smooth platform operations and timely management of vehicle traffic entering and exiting the CRC. It also serves as the primary contact for residents' questions and assistance. Additionally, the role involves guiding residents on proper waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness and order at the CRCs during daily operations, while assisting the Sub-Foreperson throughout the day.
What you will do in this role:
- Direct activities and customers to ensure vehicles and materials are dumped in an orderly and safe manner at Community Recycling Centres, Transfer Stations and/or Compost Facilities.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of site and buildings.
- Load and unload supplies and equipment from trucks.
- Maintain and clean heavy equipment.
- Provide prompt and efficient customer service.
- Perform winter maintenance including snow clearing and landscaping duties as required.
- Maintain a neat appearance and performs duties in a way that conveys a "positive image" of the Region of Peel.
What the role requires:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent with six (6) months job related experience.
- Able to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment.
- Written and verbal communications skills.
- Capable of accurately completing required forms and reports.
- Possess a Class “G” license in good standing.
- Job testing may be required.
- Mechanical aptitude with willingness to work outside, hands on in all types of weather conditions and within compost facility.
Nice to Have:
- A valid "DZ" license in good standing would be considered an asset.
Preference will be given to qualified candidates who are currently in the CUPE Local 966-Public Works bargaining unit.
