YMAP Coordinator NorthEast (Part Time)

Salary: $19.46/hr - $21.63/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
· Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities;
· Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth;
· Experience in leading and running groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills;
· Initiative and a strong work ethic;
· Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision;
· Critical-thinking skills;
· Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
· Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed);
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
· Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Work part-time, year-round, in a dynamic program (YMAP) offering support and positive experiences for high school students;
· Independently deliver after school sessions four days each week from October to June for youth with a wide variety of English levels;
· Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August;
· Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs;
· Deliver topics including: self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness;
· Work within a team of six YMAP Coordinators;
· Help organize special events for youth;
· Recruit participants through in-school presentations and one-on-one interviews;
· Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories;
· Support program evaluation;
· Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed;
· Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations;
· Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community;
· Ensure a clean and safe work environment
· Be based out of Saddletowne YMCA
