Learning and Development Specialist

Salary: $46,663.00/year - $58,328.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
· 2-3 years of experience in Learning and Development or a similar role.
· Bachelor's degree in Education or Human Resources field is preferred.
· Experience analyzing company needs, lesson planning, development, and implementation.
· Fundamental knowledge in designing and developing instructional materials.
· Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Instructional experience in a virtual and in-person setting.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, LMS systems, and other relevant software.
· Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
· Understanding of leadership concepts will be considered an asset.
· Experience developing yearly training plans and materials for all departments throughout the company.
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector search.
· Three professional references.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include:
· Execute the YMCA Calgary Leadership Institute mandate focused on employee and volunteer development. This includes a partnership with post-secondary institutes, speaker’s series, learning maps and targeted leadership training.
· Oversee and manage the LMS, ensuring content is up-to-date and aligned with organizational training needs.
· Monitor user engagement, track progress, and assess training effectiveness.
· Provide support and troubleshooting for LMS users.
· Collaborate with management to ensure a detailed understanding of training needs and develop a plan to address them.
· Develop and facilitate both in-person and virtual training programs.
· Collect information from senior management and other departments regarding how well employees retain information and use the concepts learned in training courses.
· Collaborate with other YMCAs in Canada and external partners to share best practices and training resources.
· Manage logistics, participant tracking, and reporting.
· Act as a resource for employees seeking guidance on training and career development opportunities.
· Promote training programs and encourage employee participation in professional development.
· Implement tools and processes to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, including participant feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
· Create internal communication materials to be distributed throughout the company to announce training programs and details.
