What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
· 5th Class or 4th Class ABSA Power Engineering Certification
· Experience with the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems
· Must acquire a Pool Operator Certification Level 1 & 2
· Must acquire Arena level 1 and 2 certificates
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Able to work shifts/weekends
· Must follow the Health & Safety Procedures & Regulations
· Strong mechanical & electrical aptitudes and knows how to read drawing lay outs
· Swimming pool, arena operations and maintenance experience are considered an asset
· Experience in the operation of building automation systems
· Leadership, a good work ethic, planning and problem-solving skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as able to deliver exceptional customer service
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Three professional references
· Must have a reliable transportation to respond for emergency calls
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor/Manager, this candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
· HVAC systems - regular daily inspection and record keeping of all boilers, air handling units, chiller systems and arena refrigeration plant. Responsive maintenance and problem solving as required.
· Contribute to the development of ongoing Planned Maintenance Program and Energy Management Program.
· Life Safety. Preform monthly scheduled load testing on the emergency generator, initiate a quarterly, Semi-annual schedule for/but not limiting to fire alarm testing and verifications as required by Insurance, Monthly inspections on Fire Extinguishers, emergency lights and exit signs.
· Maintain Pool systems - regular daily inspections and record keeping of all pool systems. Responsive maintenance and problem solving as required. Other tasks would include pool water tests, controller calibrations, adding chemicals, backwashing, taking water samples as required.
· Be responsible for the upkeep and appearance of all interior spaces, with planned facility maintenance. Tasks would include changing light bulbs, painting and minor refurbishment. Repairs to all interior and exterior components, repair and installation of plumbing fixtures as required.
· Provide day-to-day facility preventative maintenance/repair as directed and required. Respond to day-to-day work orders as received through the Angus System, prioritize when appropriate based on code requirements, safety, and membership relevant needs.
· Take deliveries and provide housekeeping support as required.
· Ensure effective communication, both within the Branch but also across the Asset Department.
· Ensure all mandatory training is current and updated yearly. This would include Standard First Aid & CPR, Emergency Procedures, SAM Training, Hazard Assessment, and relevant job-specific training.
· Full support of housekeeping as required. This would include the maintenance of any equipment and assistance for specific tasks that require additional help.
· Part of the on-call rotation and cross trained for YMCA branches as required
· Other duties as assigned
· Demonstrate best practice by working closely with other Asset staff and other branches to share best practice and working procedures.
