Peel Public Health is looking for our next Director, Public Health (Family Health) to champion inclusive leadership and bring innovative solutions that support evidence-informed decision-making across Peel Public Health. Family Health Division Overview
The Family Health Division focuses on optimizing early child development and lifelong well-being through initiatives such as the Healthy Babies, Healthy Children program, breastfeeding support, and infant nutrition programs. What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll report to the Medical Officer of Health and provide strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring alignment with the Ministry of Health Public Health Standards. You’ll also:
- Lead, inspire, and develop a team of public health professionals, creating an environment that prioritizes psychological safety, collaboration, and a commitment to equitable service delivery.
- Partner with provincial bodies, community organizations, and local health agencies to deliver innovative, evidence-based public health programs that address the needs of Peel’s diverse communities.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, adaptability, and improvement across the Family Health Division.
- Ensure the alignment of programs and services with public health standards, regional goals, and the Region’s corporate values, embracing an inclusive, person-centered approach.
- Represent Peel Public Health on provincial committees and establish relationships with key stakeholders to enhance service effectiveness and access.
- Oversee a complex budget, demonstrate fiscal stewardship, and engage in strategic decision-making to optimize resources across a diverse portfolio of public health programs.
What You Bring
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A Master’s degree in health sciences, health promotion, or a related field, with at least 8 years of experience in public health programming (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Membership in good standing with the College of Nurses.
- Experience in people-centered leadership, including demonstrated success in change management, team building, and mentorship.
- A passion for promoting inclusion, high performance, and growth across teams while building a supportive and empowering environment.
- Extensive knowledge of public health policies, regulations, and accountabilities, as well as the Health Protection and Promotion Act and related provincial legislation.
- Strong skills in strategic planning, fiscal management, and stakeholder engagement.
- An ability to navigate complex public health challenges and provide innovative, data-driven solutions that respond to the evolving needs of our community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
