Supervisor, Communicable Diseases

Salary Range: $100,172 - $125,213 per annum, plus comprehensive benefits

Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Working within Health Services and reporting to the Manager, Communicable Diseases, you will support the Tuberculosis Program and contribute to the Communicable Diseases Division vision for a healthy, vibrant and safe community. The Team You Will Lead:
You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, including Public Health Nurses, Health Outreach Workers and Program Assistants, to deliver services in accordance with the Ontario Public Health Standards for Communicable Disease Control and associated protocols. The work of the team involves:
- Provision of clinical services including TB skin testing, and directly observed therapy
- Tuberculosis case, contact and outbreak management
- Administration of the federal Medical Surveillance program
- Management and distribution of publicly funded medication to pharmacies, physicians and clients
- Health promotion, education and physician outreach
Reponsibilities:
- Provide guidance and consultation to staff related to case, contact and outbreak management
- Initiate and maintain collaborations with physicians, pharmacies, and other community stakeholders
- Prepare, administer and monitor the team’s budget, including oversight of pharmacy invoicing and ministry reimbursements
- Analyze service levels to assist the Manager in evaluating program efficiency
- Support the development and implementation of program priorities and intiatives
- Provide guidance and ensure adherence to applicable legislations, policies, and standards
- Implement and evaluate clinical services and TB case and contact management and implement strategies to assure quality service delivery
- Support program, divisional and organizational change management initiatives
- Performance manage, coach and mentor staff to foster a culture of respect, collaboration, inclusivity and high performance
What the role requires:
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences or equivalent
- Minimum of three years (3) years in a public health setting
- Broad knowledge of public health issues, population health, epidemiology and applicable legislation
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Must have demonstrative leadership skills and experience in leading teams of highly skilled and professional staff
- Strong coaching, mentoring and performance management skills
- Polished communication, analytical and report writing skills
- Engaging presentation skills with strong organizational, time management, problem solving and ethical decision-making skills
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting including with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy
- Demonstrated production in a fast paced environment and adapt to situations that require urgent responses (e.g. disease outbreak)
- Political awareness and business acumen, tact and diplomacy and an ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships
- Demonstrated high standards of ethics, integrity, respect, accountability and upholding the public interest, and ability to use them effectively in decision-making
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
Nice to have:
- Leadership experience within Tuberculosis or Communicable Disease Case Management setting
- Experience and strong understanding of Tuberculosis case and contact management

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, On worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
