Health & Safety Coordinator - South (Full Time)

Salary: $42,217.00/year - $52,771.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
Proven experience acting as a leader, and applying the right skills to dynamic environments, people, and situations.
Proven ability to solve problems across a range of operational environments and deescalate concerns appropriately.
Able to multi-task and demonstrate strong time-management skills.
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new systems quickly (e.g. eCompliance, push to talk radio, security software & systems etc.)
Previous experience or education in a duty manager or emergency response role is an asset.
Knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation and Code is an asset.
Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance, and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Hold regular Duty Manager shifts at regional facilities, providing excellent customer service, maintaining facility security and safety, and leading the emergency response when required
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends with irregular and extended hours.
Reliable transport required to travel to regional and association facilities.
Ability to work at times in a fast-paced environment with high-pressure and stressful situations.
Ability to provide excellent customer service with communication skills that can deescalate situations.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet the needs and demands of the Health, Safety & Risk department and facility operations.
Take a proactive approach to ensure and maintain a safe work environment.
Ensure facility security, following all opening and closing procedures.
Respond to facility emergencies, first aid requests, incidents, and thefts.
Accurately record incidents and interactions through internal digital reporting systems.
Be aware of all programs and facility bookings; ensuring that facilitators have all necessary resources.
Work in a team environment to provide excellent service; providing support to busy areas, tours, set-up of program areas and anything else required to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
Assist in the recruitment and training of all Part-Time Duty Managers, provide coaching and mentoring when required.
Support with the delivery of Health, Safety and Risk training for the Duty Managers and the association.
Support with incident follow up within designated region, this may include supporting with internal investigations.
Support with the identification of incident trends.
Support with the delivery of drills and safety inspections, identifying and reporting any deficiencies and corrective actions.
Effectively communicates in a variety of settings, creating and publishing internal communications for the success of the Duty Manager team.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Health, Safety and Risk team.
