Your Opportunity to ShineReporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll/Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of payroll reporting. This includes biweekly payroll funding, cheque reversals, off-cycle payments, GL account reconciliations, payroll audits, and assisting with year-end processes such as T4 filings. As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and process improvement within payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and reconcile bank deposits, EFT remittances, GL accounts, and payroll summaries.
- Manage biweekly payroll funding and post-pay cycle adjustments, including reversals and off-cycle payments.
- Support payroll year-end processes, including T4 filing, EI/CPP reconciliations, and corrections.
- Assist Payroll Coordinators by providing guidance, resolving issues, and acting as a team leader.
- Conduct payroll audits and ensure compliance with CRA tax regulations, Employment Standards Act, and collective agreements.
- Create and update payroll procedure manuals and user guides.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications:
- College/university degree with specialization in payroll/accounting.
- 5-10 years’ experience in a computerized payroll environment; PCP or CPM designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance legislation, CRA tax regulations, and year-end processing.
- Experience with OMERS administration, SAP/HRMS PeopleSoft, and collective agreements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work flexible hours as needed.

In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
