Location: 1300 Lakeshore Road East, Mississauga, ON (G.E. Booth Wastewater Treatment Plant)
Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Reports to: Manager, Wastewater Treatment Capital
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager that brings knowledge and direct work experience with Wastewater Treatment Plants.
What you will do in this role: Manage large and complex multi-disciplinary design and construction projects (budgets typically greater than $10 million/project) in support of the expansion and improvement of Peel’s major wastewater treatment plants
- Manage and co-coordinate consultant assignments for projects including environmental assessments, feasibility studies, preliminary through detailed design, tendering and contract administration
- Oversee engineering design and construction contract administration
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams and consultants
- Define project objectives, scope of work, key stakeholders, roles and responsibilities, key deliverables, design approach, detailed requirements, proposed stages and schedules
- Prepare terms of reference, tender documents for contracts, requests for proposals and evaluate detailed proposals
- Negotiate with public utilities, conservation authorities, local municipal representatives, and provincial and federal agencies to secure required permits and approvals
- Negotiate project changes in scope and related extras to minimize Peel’s financial risk while maintaining the quality and schedule of the project
- Manage and control the project budget, schedules and quality criteria
- Liaise with internal departments and external agencies, municipalities, Regional Councillors and the general public
- Manage the selection and procurement process for major equipment and assessment of new technologies
- Identify new business requirements to improve current practices and better assess infrastructure needs
What the role requires:
- Successful completion of an Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering, Certified Engineering Technologist diploma or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience planning, designing and construction of municipal infrastructure including water and wastewater treatment plants, wastewater pumping stations, and large diameter trunk sanitary sewers
- Thorough knowledge of wastewater design practices, and related codes and standards, regulations, safety acts, tendering/contract process and contract administration a must
- Strong negotiating, planning, scheduling and project management skills
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated financial experience to prepare cost estimates and manage budgets
Skills/Abilities:
- Highly effective interpersonal skills to negotiate and resolve emerging conflicts with staff, contractors, suppliers, residents, councillors and other stakeholders
- Superior verbal and written communication skills including report writing and facilitation of working groups
- Ability to present project updates to a variety of stakeholders
- Strong time management skills
- Strong organization and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Outlook

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 1300 Lakeshore Rd. East Mississauga, ON worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
