Position Overview:
Autism Canada is seeking an Inclusion and Accessibility Program Lead to guide and support national efforts that promote inclusive access to programs, services, and community engagement. This role focuses on identifying and reducing systemic barriers, advancing neuroinclusive practices, and ensuring that neurodivergent individuals and their families are meaningfully represented across all areas of Autism Canada’s work, including the Community Assistance Program (CAP) and literacy-based training initiatives.
Ideal candidates demonstrate strong facilitation and communication skills, collaborative leadership, and a deep commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community-driven solutions that reflect the diverse needs and strengths of the neurodivergent community.
Key Responsibilities:
Inclusion, Accessibility, and Community Representation
• Champion inclusion and accessibility values across Autism Canada’s initiatives and support the integration of inclusive practices into all programs and services.
• Collaborate with staff, partners, and community stakeholders to develop strategies that advance equity for neurodivergent individuals, including those from marginalized, racialized, and underserved communities.
• Contribute to internal inclusion and accessibility planning, including anti-oppression learning, inclusive language initiatives, and accessibility audits.
• Identify barriers related to intersectional identities and develop solutions rooted in lived experience and community voice.
• Coordinate and lead the Local Advocate Program to ensure diverse community representation, training, and outreach across Canada.
Voice, Outreach, and Advocacy Connections
• Coordinate outreach and peer engagement projects that reflect diverse voices and promote inclusive community-building.
• Co-create public engagement opportunities with neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, and peer leaders, ensuring representation and accessibility.
• Support Autism Canada’s advocacy priorities by helping develop and disseminate inclusive resources, community tools, and policy recommendations.
• Represent Autism Canada in community forums and partner initiatives, strengthening relationships with inclusion and accessibility-focused and cross-sector organizations.
CAP (Community Assistance Program) Support
• Contribute to the administration and delivery of CAP, including responding to inquiries and helping families navigate funding options.
• Support service provider communications and application reviews.
• Collaborate on equitable distribution strategies and impact tracking.
• Ensure CAP communications and services remain culturally responsive and inclusive.
Program Delivery and Inclusive Education
• Facilitate accessible and inclusive training sessions, both virtually and in person, for service providers, caregivers, and community groups.
• Develop training content, visual supports, and engagement materials using Canva and Microsoft tools.
• Collect and analyze participant feedback to improve delivery and promote equity-informed practices.
• Coordinate scheduling with partners, prepare and send participant certificates, draft and manage Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and ensure timely invoicing following training sessions or engagements.
Administrative and Operational Support
• Coordinate scheduling for meetings, presentations, and programming logistics, including calendar management and accessibility accommodations.
• Maintain accurate records of participant data, communications, and event details using Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Monday.com and Slack.
• Create, process, and follow up on invoices and reimbursement requests related to programming or outreach.
• Support internal file organization and administrative communications using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and shared systems.
Family and Community Support
• Provide support to the Family Support Team in responding to calls and emails from the neurodivergent community seeking resources and support.
• Help triage inquiries and direct individuals to appropriate programs or services offered by Autism Canada or its partners.
• Work collaboratively with the Family Support Navigator to support individuals and families.
Grant and Program Support
• Identify and contribute to grant opportunities that support inclusion and accessibility, accessibility, and community-based programming.
• Support grant writing and reporting processes to sustain the inclusion and accessibility and Accessibility Advocate role.
• Collaborate on proposals for funding that enhance Autism Canada programs, including the Literacy Program and other inclusive initiatives.
• Track grant deliverables and ensure alignment with program goals and community needs.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bilingual (English/French) with the ability to deliver French literacy programs and translate or create bilingual content as needed. Please note your oral, written, and spoken French skills in your cover letter or resume.
• Diploma or degree in communications, public policy, accessibility, social work, education, or equivalent lived/professional experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in inclusion and accessibility, accessibility, community organizing, or nonprofit program coordination.
• Demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and neurodiversity-affirming practices.
• Proven experience in public engagement, facilitation, or peer-led initiatives.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Canva, Slack, Monday.com, WIX, and virtual platforms.
• Lived experience as a neurodivergent person and/or engagement with neurodivergent communities is an asset.
• This is a remote position requiring reliable internet access and digital platforms.
• Flexibility for evening or weekend work may be required.
• Occasional travel may be needed to support community events or training.
