The Position:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Member Experience, the Senior Coordinator, Fitness and Wellness will oversee all fitness and wellness services that take place in the HUR Room and Fieldhouse, and they will manage and schedule the staff to support. The Senior Coordinator will identify members’ needs and goals, as well as recognize areas where other departments in the Centre can assist with the individual’s overall fitness and wellness journey; they will work with our marketing department to promote all fitness and wellness offerings throughout the community.
The Senior Coordinator, Fitness and Wellness will support Fitness & Wellness Coaches, Trainers, and Instructors in delivering high-quality, accessible training sessions and classes. Working with the Senior Manager, Member Experience, the Senior Coordinator, will assist with setting targets for personal training, group fitness classes and equipment demonstrations; they will develop relationships and collaborate with other departments to identify participant pathways that align with member goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Program Development and Implementation.You will develop, implement, and maintain a process for the equitable assignment of clients to personal trainer, as well as a tracking mechanism for personal training reporting.
- You will develop, implement, and maintain a sales process, including trainer bios and ongoing sales training, to support personal trainers in converting members and general Centre-users into personal training clients.
- You will work with the Research Department to create and implement client-trainer evaluations to gather feedback and determine areas of improvement.
- You will develop a quarterly group fitness calendar, that takes into consideration current staff certifications and availability, internal rental space availability, and member requirements and requests.
- You will work with the Senior Manager and the Research Department to create and implement member surveys to gather feedback on group fitness classes and determine areas of improvement.
- You will work with the Senior Manager to plan, create, implement, and assess speciality fitness and wellness programs, to expand services offered.
- You will demonstrate quality, accessible and inclusive personal training by maintaining personal training clients of your own, in alignment with department operational targets and goals.
- You will demonstrate quality, accessible and inclusive group fitness instruction by maintaining a consistent presence on the group fitness instruction schedule.
- Personnel. You will monitor activity in the HUR weight room, providing guidance and assistance to members and staff as needed.
- You will schedule staff in the HUR weight room and for group fitness classes, as well as complete payroll bi-weekly for all staff.
- You will plan and run staff meetings and trainings to support the continued development of staff to meet and exceed the Centre’s quality standards.
- You will complete quarterly check-ins and annual performance reviews with staff.
- You will collaborate with the Senior Manager, Member Experience to identify staff recruitment needs, and will assist with the process to interview, hire, train and manage staff.
- Support. You will support staff in promoting, scheduling, recording, and creating equipment demonstrations for members, and personal and group training programs for clients.
- You will support the Senior Manager, Member Experience in achieving monthly revenue targets by promoting and informing members about fitness services such as personal training and speciality classes.
- You will support staff and other department supervisors in handling non-routine customer service requirements with diplomacy and tact.
- You will work with the Membership and Marketing and Communications Departments to ensure members are kept up to date on fitness and wellness offerings and schedule, and are promptly notified of any changes, as well as to promote awareness and engagement from the general community.

What You’ll Bring:
- Education and Experience.You are attending or are a graduate of university or college program in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Fitness related field.
- It is required that you have a valid Personal Training Certification and/or Group Fitness Certificationfrom CSEP, CPTN, Can Fit-Pro, or similar association. Nutrition, Spin Certification, Senior Fitness, Active Aging, Heart Wise, or related certifications are an asset.
- You are proficient in Microsoft 365 and have knowledge of ACTIVENet or similar recreation management software.

- Administrative Requirements. It is required that you have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector to work at Abilities Centre.
- It is required that you have a current and valid certification for First AID and CPR C/AED.
- Availability. You must be available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends
