Blue Door is a not-for-profit registered charitable agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We have been an integral part of our community providing essential emergency shelter services since 1982. Blue Door’s mission is to support people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness to attain and retain affordable housing.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Talent Acquisition Coordinator supports the HR team with administrative responsibilities and tasks, including but not limited to recruitment.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding (85% of time)
- Support the HR team to source high-quality candidates through various talent acquisition channels: online job boards, social media outlets, employee referrals
- Identify and attend relevant career fairs, college fairs, and industry events, etc.
- Develop new agency connections, review contracts and make recommendations for best practices as it relates to recruitment and retention
- Assist with the co-ordination and preparation of interviews
- Develop and maintain a recruitment tracking system
- Develop a feedback survey, administer, and review data to enhance Blue Doors orientation program
- Manage the onboarding process, set-up new employees and students in ADP, work with finance to set up payroll.
Other HR Administrative Duties (15% of time)
- HR Administration and Reporting
- In co-operation with payroll, ensures employee salary and benefit needs, requests, and requirements are met
- Supports HR Assistant with the maintenance of employee personnel files
- ADP administration and backup
- Other duties as assigned

- Maintain the confidentiality of all client and agency information.
- Utilizes effective conflict resolution skills in accordance with (Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
- Fosters positive and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues, community partners and volunteers.
- Provides referrals and follow-up as necessary.
- Meets with managers on a regular basis and participates in completion of annual performance evaluation.
Occupational Health & Safety
- All employees are responsible for carrying out work in a way that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others.
- All employees shall learn and understand health and safety policies and procedures and will comply with them.
Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years experience with full-cycle and high-volume recruitment, preferably in a union environment
- Experience as an HR recruiter coordinating and administering HR related programs and policies
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Administration
- Experience with ADP is must.
- CHRP designation (or working towards it) preferred
- Professional work experience in a small business environment, and/or in the developmental services/mental health industry is preferred
- A good understanding of the Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and other employment-related legislation
- The ability to work well independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated strong organizational and written communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable
- Experience in non-profit sector an asset
- Proven effective interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Vulnerable Sector Screening – police check
- Valid Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and insurance. Ability to travel throughout York Region.
