Rehabilitation Assistant
Health Services, Long Term Care
Contract Full Time (12 months)
Compensation: $30.89-$32.83 per hour
Work mode: Onsite
Location: Tall Pines, Long Term Care, 1001 Peter Robertson Blvd, Brampton
Hours of work: 40 hours per week - 10am-6pm - including every other weekend
Who we are: The Long-Term Care Division requires staff to provide person-centered care to our residents and families following the Butterfly Philosophy of Care. This will ensure high levels of emotional wellbeing and a better quality of life for those living in our homes. Staff are to have emotional intelligence ability to deliver person-centered care in an authentic way that is meaningful to the resident and their family
What you will do in this role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Resident Support Services you will develop, implement, evaluate and modify individual and group therapeutic and specialized programs based on the assessment of resident needs
- Perform restorative care programs
- Conduct specialized programs
- Conduct adapted programs which meet the special needs of cognitively impaired residents
- Assist the Supervisor, Resident Support Services as required
- Organize and conduct restorative dining program
- Maintain appropriate records in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Centre
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Care Team
- Follow the policies and procedures as outlined for the Centre
- Maintain effective communication with residents, staff, volunteers and families
- Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, workshops etc. as directed by Supervisor, Resident Support Services
- Assist in orientation of new Activation staff and volunteers
- Participates in relevant aspects of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program to evaluate and improve resident services
- Participates in committees as required
What the role requires:
- Physiotherapist Assistant Diploma, Occupational Therapist Diploma, post secondary education in Kinesiology, Two year Diploma in Activation or RecreationTherapy from an accredited community college or university
- Previous experience of at least one year working in a Long-Term Care setting
- Must be willing to complete Restorative Care Certificate
- Knowledge & understanding of Point Click Care, RAI-MDS
- Proficient Computer skills
Skills/Abilities:
- Innovative, with the ability to work with minimum of supervision
- Organizational skills to prioritize and coordinate scheduling with other members of the team
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Good teaching skills to convey techniques to residents and their families
- Physically able to perform duties of the role
