Technical Analyst - Water and Wastewater Compliance
Public Works – Water & Wastewater
Status: Contract Full-Time (13 Months)
Salary Range: $78,336 - $97,920 per annum

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (Rotating after hours on-call schedule)

The Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Water & Wastewater Compliance you will provide technical support to the Region’s water and wastewater programs and projects, respond to customer enquiries, and support the Region’s overall compliance with drinking water and wastewater legislation and conformance to the Drinking Water Quality Management Standards.
In this Role you will:
- Investigate and resolve public enquiries relating to wastewater, water quality and supply.
- Develop and maintain water quality monitoring plans and sampling schedules.
- Collect, compile, and analyze data in support of ministry inspections, internal audits, compliance checks, and reporting purposes, including coordination of annual water quality report preparation under O. Reg. 170/03 and annual wastewater performance reports as required by our systems’ Approval instruments.
- Report regulatory non-compliance and Adverse Water Quality Incidents.
- Deliver training and technical support and data to internal stakeholders in support of water and wastewater compliance programs.
- Review commissioning/disinfection field records in support of water construction projects.
- Maintain currency of water and wastewater compliance process protocols/guides and develop new resources (forms, guides, etc.) as needed.
- Maintain updated compliance information on the Peel Region website and internal intranet pages.
- Develop and maintain Service Level Agreements with client groups.
- Oversee administration and continual improvement aspects of the Critical Water Users Program and Community Lead Testing Program.
- Conduct or support water facility compliance checks and follow-up on findings to resolution.
- Participate in after-hours and weekend/holiday on-call coverage, managing adverse and reportable events, and providing guidance and support during water system emergencies.
What the Role requires:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Environmental or Applied Science combined with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the municipal water industry.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Solid knowledge of federal and provincial water and wastewater legislation, approvals frameworks, and quality management systems.
- Drinking Water Quality Management Standard Internal Auditor qualified/certified would be an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates holding Water Quality Analyst and/or Water/Wastewater Operator certification.
- Knowledge and understanding of drinking water treatment process, water distribution and private plumbing, wastewater collection and treatment systems.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication (both conversational and technical), strong public relations and presentation skills.
- Expert investigative and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to organize data and draw proper correlations.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office applications particularly strong Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and large database experience.
- Well organized with excellent administrative and strong time management skills.
- Valid 'G' Class Driver's License in good standing.

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you'll have the ability to work remotely and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs, at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton and other water/wastewater worksites. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
