DHL Express currently has an opening for a Data Application Engineer - Contract in Brampton, ON. This role will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the local applications, databases and interfaces required to keep the business running and improve processes as requirements are defined in conjunction with various internal departments as required.
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
- Write SQL queries and scripts to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of data-driven applications using Python or PHP.
- Implement new features and functionalities based on project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with team members to conduct code reviews and ensure code quality and best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and tools in data engineering and application development.
- Assist in troubleshooting and debugging issues related to data processing and application functionality.
- Communicate effectively with team members to provide updates on project progress and discuss potential improvements or optimizations.
Do you have what it takes?
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python or PHP, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Familiarity with database management systems, such as MySQL and MsSQL.
- Experience with data processing, analysis, and visualization libraries/tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Plotly, ChartJs, HighCharts).
- Knowledge of web development frameworks and technologies, such as Django, Flask, Laravel, Symfony, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
