Position Title: Camp Manager, Cambrian Heights
Location: Cambrian Heights Community Association (600 Northmount Dr NW)
Duration: April 29 - August 31, 2024
Mandatory Training Dates:
May 1 - 10, 2024 (Camp Senior Team Training), June 13 - 27, 2024 (Camp Wide Training), July 20, 2024 (Mid Summer Training/Team Building)
Salary or Salary Range: $20.50 - $22.50/Hour

Between Friends runs age appropriate, high quality programs and services in our community for both adult and youth participants. One of our most popular programs is Camp Bonaventure, which is a fun, outdoor, pan-ability summer day camp for youth ages 4-17. Activities at Camp Bonaventure include swimming, sailing, canoeing, games, crafts, yoga, gardening, and much much more!
Job Overview:
As Camp Manager, Cambrian Heights, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of the Camp Supervisor, Membership, Senior Counsellors, and Volunteers. You will also be responsible for the indirect support of all Camp Bonaventure staff at our North Site. The Camp Manager directly oversees the day-to-day operations of the North Site of Camp Bonaventure, ensuring a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all. This position directly reports to the Program Coordinator, Youth Programs.
- Provide supervision, direction, support and leadership to Staff
- Provide ongoing feedback and recognition to all Camp Bonaventure Personnel at the North Site
- Ensure all program activities are planned with the highest standard of quality and safety; this will include but is not limited to; age appropriate, variety of activities and experiences, adaptable to different abilities, will include extra activities/ backup plans in the event of unforeseen changes
- Provide evaluations on Camp Bonaventure Personnel and ensure that appropriate evaluations are completed for all Personnel in a timely manner
- Document and discuss employee performance concerns as they occur, with the support of the Program Coordinator, Youth Programs
- Ensure the medical safety of participants by liaising with Camp Bonaventure Personnel to ensure necessary medication and first aid administration, and appropriate documentation, as per the policy of Between Friends
- Work closely in collaboration with Camp Manager, Sandy Beach

- Caring - You welcome and celebrate people with empathy and dignity. You value working with individuals to create adaptations and modifications to ensure an inclusive experience for all. This includes providing support to participants requiring lifts and transfers, and personal care support.
- Easeful - You strive to create accessible and inclusive spaces that remove barriers to access. You have experience adapting activities, programming, to meet the needs of everyone. Previous experience developing and implementing programming is required. Access to your own vehicle during working hours.
- Safe - You value creating and maintaining safe spaces to promote inclusion and fun! Must be over the age of 18. Must pass a Screening Process including a Backcheck search and an Intervention Record Check completed by Alberta Human Services. Must be able to provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification, prior to the start date.
Overview of Working Hours:
- April - June - flexible hybrid schedule, primarily focused on planning, administration duties, supporting with training (as required from Program Coordinator)
- Monday - Friday, 7.5 hour work days and 0.5 hour paid lunch
- July - August - work in person from Camp Bonaventure
- Monday - Friday, estimated 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Occasional evening and/or weekends may required for training and meetings
- August 24 - 31, 2024 - flexible hybrid schedule, primarily focused on end of summer wrap up administrative duties as set by the Program Coordinator
- Mandatory Mid Summer Training and encouraged Team Building - July 20, 2024
- Once a week staff meetings, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM
- Daily Safety Briefing at 8:30 AM
Job Requirements:
- Must be above 18 years old
- Must pass a Screening Process including a Backcheck search and an Intervention Record Check completed by Government of Alberta
- Must be able to provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification, prior to the start date
- Proof of up to date COVID-19 Vaccinations
- Experience in managing crisis situations in a team setting
- Ability to provide support to participants requiring lifts and transfers, and personal care support
- Experience in a supervisory role and/or summer camp work is an asset
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities is an asset
- Previous experience developing and implementing programming is an asset
