Research Aerospace Technologist

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time Position Available
SALARY: $61,113 - $83,618 per annum
POSITION LOCATION: Notre Dame Campus (Winnipeg, MB)

DUTIES
The Research Aerospace Technologist develops and implements applied research projects for the RRC Technology Access Centre for Aerospace and Manufacturing. The position is intended as a senior technologist level position to support applied research activities in 3D modeling, mechanical analysis, product development and manufacturing activities. Specific duties will include developing technical drawings, computer models, simulations, specifications, tools and fixtures. The successful candidate will provide hands-on support for prototyping and product development, and for interfacing a variety of mechanical systems with other machines. The candidate will be required to work as part of multidisciplinary project teams to develop solutions for industrial clients and prepare technical reports for both internal and industrial client projects. This position will support technology workshops, knowledge dissemination, and industry outreach activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Significant experience working in the aerospace or manufacturing industry
- Experience with design, analysis, and prototyping of mechanical systems and components
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis of mechanical structures, components, and assemblies
- Demonstrated experience in the design and fabrication of machines, tools, and fixtures
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Inventor, Solidworks, or similar programs
- Ability to undertake multiple tasks with limited supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience with 3D printing
- Experience in design for additive manufacturing
- Experience in thermal analyses utilizing Finite Element Analysis software
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position may be required to travel
