Preschool Instructor (Part Time)

Salary: $15.00/hour - $18.29/ hour
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: June 30th, 2025 (with possibility of extension)

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
Experience working with young children aged 3 – 5 years
Education in Early Childhood Education is desirable, as is Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification
Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with children to promote positive social, cognitive and physical development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including computer literacy
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
The preschool instructor will engage children in programs which introduce preschoolers to physical activity, literacy, fine arts, mathematics, and science through play-based, progressive learning experiences. They will support children to build positive relationships, gain confidence and learn new skills.
Reporting to the Preschool Supervisor, the Preschool Instructor will:
Plan and facilitate intentional, developmentally appropriate play-based learning activities
Actively engage with children including during physical play and scheduled swim time
Ensure the delivery of excellent service by identifying and responding in a professional and timely manner to the needs and wants of children and parents/guardians.
Support young children with social and self-regulation skill development, personal care needs and to achieve developmental milestones
Sign children in and out of child minding services using YMCA Calgary’s digital transfer of care practices
Maintain health and safety measures including child safety & protection standards, health management and the provision of a safe and clean environment
Establish and maintain effective communication standards with stakeholders
Engage with, and support as appropriate, YMCA initiatives
