Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Expansion and Employment, the Manager of Training and Employment will lead and oversee the Construct training program. Construct operates as a linking Employment Social Enterprise within Blue Door that fosters a labour market attachment for individuals facing barriers around employment in York Region, Durham Region and Peel Region. Construct provides hands-on and soft skills training, supportive employment opportunities, case management, wrap-around supports, while assisting participants to gain employment in the construction trades. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking and maintaining outcomes related to program participants, identifying and securing resources and supports for participants and fostering new relationships and partnerships. This is a dynamic, people-focused leadership role that requires strong operational oversight, relationship-building capabilities, and a deep commitment to supporting marginalized communities through training, wraparound services, and employment pathways.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Construct Training program across York, Peel, and Durham Regions.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with training partners, employers, contractors, unions, and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external partners to identify and secure employment opportunities aligned with participant needs and program goals.
- Develop new employment streams and maintain a robust roster of job placement opportunities for program graduates.
- Oversee the implementation of wraparound supports including mental health resources, daily check-ins, coaching, and safety support.
- Work with the support team to connect participants to external community resources and services.
- Respond promptly and effectively to participant issues, ensuring timely conflict resolution and participant well-being.
- Directly support participant transitions into employment, ensuring long-term success beyond the program.
- Manage and fulfill requirements for all funding agreements, including budget oversight and detailed reporting.
- Use CRM tools to maintain records, track attendance, monitor performance, and manage participant interactions.
- Ensure that program KPIs and deliverables are tracked and achieved.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate data through a central master tracker.
- Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and support to the training team, and foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture.
- Oversee the development and delivery of training schedules that are both effective for participants and manageable for staff and partners.

- Fosters positive and appropriate relationships with clients, colleagues, community partners and volunteers.
- Provides referrals and follow-up as necessary.
- Meets with Director on a regular basis and participates in completion of annual performance evaluation.
Occupational Health & Safety

Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Services, Employment Services, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in employment programs, training delivery, or social enterprise management.
- Proven leadership and team management experience, especially in community-based or social impact programs.
- Strong knowledge of employment barriers faced by marginalized populations.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with employers, funders, and community organizations.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience working with CRM or case management software; strong proficiency in MS Office and data tracking tools.
- Flexibility to travel across York, Peel, and Durham regions as needed.
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to problem solve in conflict and/or crisis situations.
- Knowledge, understanding and promotion of anti-oppressive practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- CPR and First Aid Certified. Crisis prevention training would be an asset.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening police check required.
- Valid Driver’s license, reliable vehicle and insurance to travel for work.
