Direct Support Professional - Casual and Part Time
Casual and part time Direct Support positions are a wonderful opportunity to join our team, receive training and develop the skills and experience to move into full time roles. These positions offer the flexibility many people are looking for in a career.
A Casual Direct Support position will work for you if:
- You are available for a minimum of 10 shifts a month (can accept up to 80 hours bi-weekly)
- You are available for a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
- You want a flexible schedule and can work on short notice
A Part Time Direct Support position will work for you if:
- You prefer a set schedule with guaranteed hours each week (hours based on the position)
- You are available for extra hours (part time staff can work additional hours based on their availability up to 80 hours bi-weekly)
- You are available to work every weekend or every other weekend
Qualifications (students in second year will be considered based on experience)
- DSW Diploma or DSW Certificate of Apprenticeship
- CYW Diploma, SSW Diploma, Behavioural Sciences
- Safe Management Training, First Aid
- Minimum 1 year related experience
- Experience with complex needs, autism
- Basic computer skills
- Hold and maintain a valid G Class Driver’s Licence, some positions require access to a vehicle
- Current (within 3 months) Criminal Reference with Vulnerable Sector Screening required

Working Conditions
Work occurs in home, office environment and in the community. Must be able to safely provide support to people with Behaviour Support Plans, includes wearing personal protective equipment and applying behavioural intervention techniques. Requires a high level of sensory awareness and mental effort in listening, communicating and interacting with people supported, families, staff, health care providers and members of the community.
Must have the physical ability to provide personal care, push wheelchairs, drive and complete regular household tasks (lifting, bending, pushing, pulling). Able to accompany people and support physical activities such as swimming and walking.
