Duties and responsibilities:
At SaskAbilities, we believe in working together to provide innovative programs and services to meet the individual needs of our participants. In this position you will be providing one-to-one assistance to individuals experiencing disabilities in various employment settings to develop their workplace skills.
Duties:
- In consultation with an Employment Specialist, identify why clients are underperforming in their jobs, develop a plan to remedy their situation and then provide one on one assistance according to the plan
- Complete learning style assessments for employed clients who are underperforming
- Evaluate and document clients work skills and work habits at each scheduled client visit
- Educate clients about the rights and responsibilities of being an employee by providing them with knowledge of labour standards in their workplace
- Implement strategies and supports for individuals to modify their behaviors, increase their self-esteem and build confidence
Qualifications:
Education:
- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and access to a working/reliable vehicle
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
- Proficient computer skills and good knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs
- Knowledge and skill in using social media platforms
Experience:
- Two years experience in the human services field
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals with varying abilities, co-workers, and community partners
- Open-minded, creative, effective time management, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
