The Systems Accountant supports the Corporate Accounting team on an 18-month contract with a primary focus on finance-related business acceptance testing (BAT), and participation in system integration testing (SIT) and regression testing for the Guidewire cloud migration. This role supports the validation of finance-related business scenarios, reconciliations, reports, and interfaces, and helps ensure accounting processes and outputs perform as expected in the new cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and coordinate finance-related business acceptance testing (BAT) activities and participate in system integration testing (SIT) and regression testing for the Guidewire cloud migration, including test scenario execution, evidence collection, and results tracking.
- Validate end-to-end accounting and reporting scenarios across Guidewire, Epicor, and related systems to confirm interfaces, reports, journal outputs, and reconciliations are functioning as expected.
- Identify, document, and retest defects and variances discovered during BAT, SIT, and regression cycles; partner with Information Services, project teams, and vendors to support root cause analysis and timely resolution.
- Review test cases and expected outcomes to ensure finance requirements, accounting controls, downstream reporting needs, and existing functionality are fully covered during migration testing.
- Support dress rehearsals, cutover validation, and go-live readiness activities by confirming continuity of accounting processes and accuracy of financial outputs in the Guidewire Cloud environment.
- Maintain clear testing documentation, including scenarios, defects, retest results, regression outcomes, and issue summaries to support project governance and auditability.
- Prepare and update BAT/SIT/regression trackers, defect logs, reconciliation schedules, and testing status summaries to support project governance and decision-making.
- Assist with validation of finance reports, dashboards, interfaces, and data extracts to ensure complete and accurate outputs in the cloud environment.
- Support ad hoc analysis related to migration testing results, cutover planning, blackout-period impacts, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Contribute to improvements in test coverage, defect management, regression coverage, documentation quality, and control over finance-related system changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in System testing, business acceptance testing (BAT), system integration testing (SAT) and regression testing, ideally in Guidewire or other enterprise system implementations.
- Familiarity with Guidewire, ERP/GL systems, Excel, reporting tools, defect tracking tools, and experience working with interfaces and large data sets; Epicor experience is an asset.
- Exposure to accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, or downstream finance impacts in testing is a strong asset.
- Strong ability to execute test scenarios, validate expected results, document defects, and coordinate retesting through issue resolution.
- Experience validating end-to-end business processes, interfaces, reports, reconciliations, and unchanged functionality across integrated systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to investigate variances in system and financial outputs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Information Services, and project teams.
The hourly rate range for this position is $34.22 to $42.77 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position may be eligible for a performance bonus target of 4.8%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.
