Sports Referee (Part Time)

Salary: $15.00/hr - $18.29/hr

What qualifications are we looking for?
At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
· Comprehensive knowledge of the sport of basketball;
· Prior playing, refereeing and/or coaching experience;
· Basketball Referee Certifications are an asset;
·Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
· Three professional references required.
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Provide basketball refereeing for the YMCA basketball leagues for ages 9-14;
· Teach and enforce the game rules of basketball;
· Make modifications to game rules of basketball based on the age of the participants, skill levels and time during the season;
· Ensure enjoyment, game flow and equal participation;
· Organize participants so that games begin and end on time;
· Communicate with the game day coaches on an ongoing basis;
· Be available for tournaments three times a year;
· Assist the Sport Supervisor in other areas as required.
