Position: Coordinator, Communications and Digital Media
Location:1 Jim Flaherty Street, Whitby, ON
Assignment: Full-time, Salaried (37.50 hours per week)

The Position:
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator, Communications and Digital Media is responsible for engaging stakeholders through content creation, storytelling, and digital engagement. You will support social media, external communications, sponsorship activities, and digital marketing campaigns that drive awareness, inclusion, and action.
What You’ll Do:
Content and Digital Engagement
- You will write and edit engaging content for social media, email, web, and internal channels.
- You will support the Manager by drafting content, including but not limited to external communications, newsletters, and presentations.
- You will coordinate Abilities Centre’s social media strategy and calendar.
- You will build and manage the social media content calendar across multiple platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, Hootsuite, etc.).
- You will track and report on digital/social media engagement metrics and analytics.
- You will monitor conversations, engagement, and trends to engage with community members and organizations in real-time.
- You will support digital ad campaigns and SEO/SEM strategies as needed.
Community Relations and Campaign Support
- You will support the Manager in connecting the community with the organization through strategic community relations campaigns.
- You will support partnership and sponsorship activations and deliverables by assisting with, sales materials creation, and brand visibility initiatives.
- You will collaborate with internal teams on event marketing and promotions initiatives and materials.
- You will coordinate campaign launches, promotions, and key messaging in alignment with the organization’s voice.
- You will attend events as needed to support live coverage, content capture, and/or promotion.
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Experience:
- You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or related program.
- You bring 2+ years’ work experience (not-for-profit or charitable experience is an asset).
- You have proficiency in digital platforms, analytics tools, and social media management tools (ex. Hootsuite, Meta, Monday.com, etc.).
- You have a passion for all things content and a strong understanding of how content can be deployed across various platforms in different scenarios to target specific audiences and meet objectives.
- You have demonstrated experience writing clear, compelling, and accessible content across multiple channels, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Technical Skills & Organization:
- You exhibit knowledge of accessibility and accessible content and social media.
- You have excellent organizational skills and are extremely detail oriented.
- You work well under pressure and can balance/prioritize multiple projects and deliver in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
- You are flexible, adaptive to change, and able to handle shifting priorities with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes with short notice at times.
- You are self-motivated, and results-oriented; you demonstrate initiative and contribute to a work environment that values and encourages innovation.
Communication & Collaboration:
- You have strong presentation and communication skills across multiple mediums.
- You have strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- You can work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and can achieve results through adaptability and creative problem-solving.
- You are an effective team player with a positive attitude whose interactions demonstrate accountability, authenticity, and collaboration.
- You have good conflict resolution skills and are dedicated to customer service that exceeds expectations.
- You are willing and flexible to take on team initiatives based on evolving organizational needs, as required.
Administrative Requirements:
- You are required to have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector to work at Abilities Centre.
- You are flexible regarding work schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
