Position: Coordinator, Graphics and Digital Design
Location:1 Jim Flaherty Street, Whitby, ON
Assignment: Full-time, Salaried (37.50 hours per week)

The Position:
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator, Graphic and Digital Design will be responsible for the design, execution, and maintenance of digital and print communications. This role will be instrumental in developing visual content that is compelling, accessible, and aligned with Abilities Centre’s brand. You will also support the functionality and accessibility of our website and communications platforms.
What You’ll Do:
Graphic and Digital Design
- You will develop creative visual assets for campaigns, programs, and events (print and digital).
- You will ensure all content meets accessibility standards (AODA) and Abilities Centre’s brand guidelines.
- You will assist with creating branded templates and documents for internal use.
- You will attend events and programs to capture photos and video content and edit for print and digital usage.
- You will contribute to the content layout and creative direction of newsletters, web content, and social media posts.
Web and Digital Maintenance
- You will support with maintaining and updating Abilities Centre’s website and intranet.
- You will collaborate on new webpage builds and ensure accessibility and usability across platforms.
- You will track and analyze website performance and make recommendations for improvement.
- You will support Abilities Centre app integrations and/or content updates as needed.
Cross-departmental Collaboration
- You will provide creative support to internal teams/departments regarding marketing materials.
- You will participate in department planning meetings and intake reviews to align design timelines and support department and organizational priorities.
- You will collaborate with the Coordinator, Communications and Digital Media to ensure visual and written content align with marketing and communications campaigns.
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Experience:
- You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in graphic design, digital media, or related program.
- You bring 2+ years’ work experience in a design-focused role (not-for-profit or charitable experience is an asset), including experience with photo/video capture and editing.
- You have advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, etc.); experience with video editing and graphic design apps such as CapCut, InShot, and Canva is considered an asset.
- You have working knowledge of CMS platforms (WordPress preferred) and web analytics tools (i.e., Google Analytics, Monday.com); familiarity with internal communications platforms (i.e. Sharepoint Intranet) is considered an asset.
- You have a passion for all things content and a strong understanding of how content can be deployed across various platforms in different scenarios to target specific audiences and meet objectives.
- You have demonstrated experience creating clear, compelling, and accessible content across multiple channels, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Technical Skills & Organization:
- You exhibit knowledge of accessibility and accessible document and graphic design.
- You have excellent organizational skills and are extremely detail oriented with a strong eye for layout, design, and consistency.
- You work well under pressure and can balance/prioritize multiple projects and deliver in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
- You are flexible, adaptive to change, and able to handle shifting priorities with maturity and foresight to cope with input and changes with short notice at times.
- You are self-motivated, and results-oriented; you demonstrate initiative and contribute to a work environment that values and encourages innovation.
Communication & Collaboration:
- You have strong presentation and communication skills across multiple mediums.
- You can work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and can achieve results through adaptability and creative problem-solving.
- You are an effective team player with a positive attitude whose interactions demonstrate accountability, authenticity, and collaboration.
- You have good conflict resolution skills and are dedicated to customer service that exceeds expectations.
- You are willing and flexible to take on team initiatives based on evolving organizational needs, as required.
Administrative Requirements:
- You are required to have a current and clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector to work at Abilities Centre.
- You are flexible regarding work schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
