YMAP Coordinator - (On-Call, Part Time)

Start Date: Immediately

Salary: $19.95/hour - $22.17/hour

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;

· Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities

· Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth

· Experience in leading and facilitating groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills

· Initiative and a strong work ethic

· Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision

· Critical-thinking skills

· Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

· Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed)

· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

· Three professional references

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and responsibilities include:

· Work part-time, year-round, in a dynamic program (YMAP) offering support and positive experiences for high school students.

· Independently deliver after-school sessions in-person five days each week from September to June for youth with a wide variety of English levels, with some weekends as needed

· Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August

· Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs

· Deliver topics including: self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness

· Work within a team of YMAP Coordinators

· Help organize special events for youth

· Recruit participants through in-school presentations

· Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, statistics, and program impact stories

· Support program evaluation

· Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed

· Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations

· Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community

· Ensure a clean and safe work environment
