Summary of responsibilities:
The Manager, Governance is responsible for overseeing internal and external governance activities, including support for SMC, Tech-Ops, the Board of Directors and its Committees. The role provides strategic advice to the senior official and team by developing plans, conducting research, and monitoring industry trends. The incumbent coordinates cross-directorate programs and projects, ensuring effective communication between the Vice-President’s office, Program Managers, the Director, other branches, and key stakeholders to support corporate and strategic objectives. The Manager, Governance performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in Public Administration, Communications, Project Management, Business Administration, or other specialty relevant to the duties of the position; or relevant work experience.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in a similar role.
- Two to three (2-3) years of management experience, including managing a multi-disciplinary team and providing leadership.
- Experience in liaising, establishing, and sustaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders and clients.
- Experience providing analysis, advice, and guidance to various management levels.
- Experience researching varied and complex issues and recommending solutions encompassing a wide array of inputs and sources.
- Experience in translating strategic vision into concrete plans, plans into timelines, etc.
- Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of quality management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of corporate governance best practices and emerging trends and issues in this area, including governance of Crown corporations.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Tactful and discrete.

- Ability to travel as required
- Language Profile: CBCC;
