The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta is a collaborative partner with community agencies/ organizations in advocating on behalf of persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. We are a leader in delivering programs and services, educating and providing information on treatment and resources relating to cerebral palsy in the province of Alberta.
Volunteer Coordinator: This position is responsible for recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, scheduling and evaluating volunteers for CPAA programs and activities, as well as developing and managing a sustainable volunteer development program. This is a Temporary 1 year part time (20 hours/week), contract position, starting at $20/hour.
Responsibilities:
Volunteer Coordination
- Assess and monitor agency needs and develop appropriate volunteer positions
- Responsible for full volunteer recruitment cycle, including reference and criminal background checks
- Responsible for evaluation of performance for volunteers
- Oversee volunteers within a program or event setting to ensure the smooth running of each
- Manage and maintain volunteer database and individual volunteer records
- Review and maintain current volunteer information packs
- Design and supervise the orientation, and training of volunteers regarding CPAA policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with volunteers to find solutions that increase volunteer retention
- Participate in the planning and execution of all reward and recognition activities for volunteers
- Attend community events orientated on volunteer coordination and volunteer recruitment
- Develop new and innovative ways to recruit and retain new volunteers
Administration
- Answer all volunteer/event queries and act as the first point of contact for potential volunteers and work with the Development department for third party/CPAA events
- Ensure that CPAA procedures, policies, and specified requirements are adhered to.
- Maintain appropriate records and ensure efficient administration of the volunteer program and events
- Provide weekly/monthly reports as requested
- Keeping all data bases up to date
- Provide administrative support to Edmonton office and Programs and Services team, as needed
- Cover for Programs’ Coordinator as needed, including overseeing a program
Other
- Complies with CPAA policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Director of Social Inclusion and Support Services
Working Conditions
· Ability to attend and conduct presentations
· Ability to attend events and programs when necessary
· Ability to build professional relationships with community partners
· Office working conditions apply to this role.
· Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
· Additional hours may be required outside of the usual working hours, including weekends and evenings.
· Occasional travel might be required.
Requirements:
· Volunteer Coordinator training would be considered an asset
· Administrative Assistant experience would be considered an asset
· Previous volunteer experience, ideally in a non-profit setting, with understanding of the volunteer processes
· Experience using databases, such as a CRM system
· Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to include working with diverse groups
· Maintains confidentiality, including information within record keeping processes
· Outgoing personality and team player
· Organized and detail oriented
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
· Class 5 Driver’s license
