Construction Inspector
Public Works - Operations Support
3 Long Term Contract Full-Time Positions, duration: 13 months
Compensation: $78-336 - $97,920 per annum plus benefits
Work Mode and Location: On-site at 2 Copper Road, Brampton
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (availability for afterhours work on nights & weekends as required)
Reporting to the Supervisor Construction Inspections, you will inspect the construction of capital and/or development related watermains, sewers, roads, bridges and culverts ensuring that all work is constructed in accordance with Regional Standards, specifications and/or contracted documents.
What you will do:
- Verify lines and grades provided by surveyors are consistent with construction drawings.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used on site ensuring quantities are tracked accurately and quality of materials is consistent throughout the construction process.
- Review engineering plans and special instructions for construction projects and provide feedback to Project Manager.
- Regularly inspect construction sites to ensure all work is performed in accordance with the Regional Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislation.
- Issue compliance orders when necessary.
- Prepare and compile payment certificates and reports as required for review by Project Manager and Supervisor.
- Assist with training and supervision of junior and seasonal inspectors.
- All other duties as assigned.
What the Role Requires:
- Completed Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years related construction experience.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering plans.
- Membership with the Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologist (OACETT) and road construction certification with OACETT would be considered an asset.
- Ministry of the Environment Water and Wastewater certification would be considered an asset Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize workload.
- Strong team player with ability to achieve results independently.
- Valid “G” license in good standing and daily access to a vehicle.
