About the Role
As Supervisor, Financial Tools and Reporting, you will lead a team responsible for long-term financial analysis, reserve management, capital analysis and reporting, and year-end financial coordination.
Your role will be critical in analyzing and monitoring financial data, spotting emerging challenges, and recommending innovative solutions to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
What You Will Do
- Review and prepare Council reports; provide expert advice to senior management on financial sustainability and risk issues.
- Coordinate complex budget timelines, data analysis, and financial reporting to ensure effective financial controls.
- Supervise and guide staff in analyzing complex financial and business issues to support strategic priorities.
- Develop insights into broader economic and financial trends affecting long-term regional sustainability.
- Interpret and advise on the Financial Management By-law and related corporate financial policies.
- Allocate and supervise routine and ad-hoc financial projects across the team.
- Oversee the year-end inventory processes and ensure smooth departmental audits on capital project financial controls.
- Prepare insightful monthly and ad-hoc financial reports that inform leadership decision-making across departments.
What You Bring
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, coupled with a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, ACCA).
- At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.
- A strong understanding of municipal finance practices, long-term financial modeling, reserve management, and capital budget reporting.
- Expertise in generally accepted accounting principles and public sector accounting standards.
- Exceptional skills in financial analysis, strategic thinking, and complex problem solving.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and effectively to senior leadership.

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
