Advisor, Strategic Initiatives
Health Services – Health Strategy, Planning, and Partnerships
Status: 1 Regular Full Time & 1 Contract Full Time (13 Months)
Salary Range: $103,177 - $128,969 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable)

Are you a strategic thinker with strength in community engagement, partnership development and change management who is seeking an opportunity to develop, implement and support strategic Health Services initiatives?
Reporting to the Manager, Health Strategic Planning and Initiatives, the Advisor leads and works collaboratively with others to provide advice and strategic input to ensure that corporate, department-wide and community initiatives and action plans are delivered in accordance with Health Services strategic vision and the Region’s Strategic priorities.
What you will do in this role:
The key current portfolios in these roles include:
- Leading work and partnerships with Ontario Health Teams and health system partners
- Leading work with community organizations and partners from across sectors to connect and collectively identify and respond to emerging and/or acute issues and foster capacity building, to better serve the most vulnerable in Peel.
As the Advisor, you will apply principles related to strategic, business, and operational planning, community planning and development, engagement and partnerships, project management and change management to achieve departmental goals. This can include:
- Developing and implementing strategies and tactical plans
- Building internal and partner competency and capacity to lead through change and transformation and respond to community and health system issues
- Working with the appropriate organizational supports on department-wide strategies and frameworks
- Assisting the Director, and when appropriate, members of the divisional leadership team on the strategic planning and administrative affairs of the department which will involve considerable judgment and exceptional diplomacy and leadership skills needed to liaise with leadership, health system and community partners
- Representing the department on committees and at other meetings as required
What the role requires:
- University degree preferably in Health Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Health or related discipline. Combination of education and experience may be considered
- At least 5 years of relevant job experience
- Knowledge of Health Services
- Well developed project management and communications skills
Skills/Abilities:
- Considerable judgment and exceptional diplomacy and leadership skills involving liaising with Health Services leadership
- Sound leadership competencies, with an emphasis on being an adaptable change leader who is organizationally aware, collaborative, inclusionary, communicates with impact, makes effective decisions and is courageous when required
- Proven ability to chair meetings, lead consultations, and facilitate discussion with internal and external partners and other groups
- Demonstrated knowledge of performance measurement, strategic planning, and quality improvement tools
- Familiar with organizational and systems change capacity and advancing cultural shifts
- Experience conducting complex and sensitive investigations and analysis
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
Nice to have:
- Experience within the health system, social services sector and/or municipal government environment with an understanding of the political and administrative culture

Work Mode & Job Location:
In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
