Coordinator Waste Collection
Public Works, Waste Management
Status: 1 Contract Full-Time Position, Duration: 13 Months
Salary Range: $61,368 to $76,710 per annum plus comprehensive benefits
Hiring Range: $61,368 to $69,039 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Reporting to the Supervisor of Waste Collection, you will be responsible for waste collection dispatch and general administrative duties including recording keeping, statistical tracking and reporting
What you will do in this role:
- Manage, review, dispatch, document and update Waste Collection service requests
- Statistical tracking, summarizing and reporting of data with the use of Salesforce
- Update and maintain waste collection schedules, operation reports and document filing systems
- Draft correspondence to residents, contractors and other internal/external clients including response to complaints, notifications and follow up to waste collection issues
- Obtain information from MTO and Municipal Property Assessment databases
- Coordinate with staff from area municipalities to address related issues
- Receive and direct clients, customers and staff to the appropriate Waste Collection office
- Processing medical exemptions and walk-up service requests, and compiling the required information associated with these programs for Management.
- Using the Contractors’ GPS technology to authenticate collection-related information.
- Updating and maintaining the Region’s master address database, including all locations’ waste collection information.
- Coordinating with staff from the area municipalities in a cooperative effort to address related issues as reported by Peel residents such as illegal dumping, municipal litter containers, property standards, boulevard obstruction, parking control, low-hanging tree branches and snow removal.
- Making necessary changes to incoming cases and work orders entered into Salesforce for quality assurance and accuracy.
- Uploading and attaching pertinent waste collection issue documents and photographs to service requests to ensure comprehensive documentation.
What the role requires:
- Successful completion of a degree/diploma in an Statistical, or Business discipline combined with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service focus with demonstrated tact and diplomacy to deal with the public, contractors and staff
- Proficient computer skills using MS Office and Hansen
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks for a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected along with occasional travel to attend site inspections or meetings at Regional facilities or as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

Peel Region remains committed to uninterrupted service delivery during the transition outlined in the Peel Transition Implementation Act, 2024, introduced by the Ontario government on December 12, 2024. If passed, this legislation would transfer responsibility for regional roads and stormwater infrastructure to Brampton, Caledon, and Mississauga by July 1, 2026, or as determined by the Minister. Waste Collection in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon would also transfer to the cities of Mississauga, Brampton and the Town of Caledon on October 1, 2027. Peel Region will continue to manage Community Recycling Centres (CRC) along with transfer, processing, and disposal services.
