Easter Seals Alberta is a provincial not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering inclusion, independence, and recreation for individuals with disabilities and medical conditions. For over 70 years, we have provided accessible and meaningful camp experiences that create lifelong memories for campers and staff alike.
Camp Horizon, located in the beautiful Kananaskis Country, is a fully accessible summer camp that hosts children, youth, and adults with disabilities through a variety of partner programs and specialty camps.
Position Overview
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join our Food Services team for the 2026 summer camp season. This is a fantastic opportunity for culinary students or individuals interested in gaining hands-on kitchen experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The Kitchen Helper plays an important role in supporting daily meal service for campers and staff, helping ensure that everyone is well-fed, safe, and happy throughout the summer.
Please note: This is a live-in position while camps and programs are in session. Camp Horizon provides accommodations and all meals during working weeks.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with food preparation under the direction of the Camp Chef and kitchen leadership
• Support meal service, including set-up, serving, and clean-up
• Wash dishes, sanitize kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean workspace
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
• Assist with receiving and storing food supplies as needed
• Support special dietary requirements and allergy protocols
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and camp staff to ensure smooth meal operations
Qualifications & Skills
• Interest in food service, hospitality, or culinary arts (culinary students strongly encouraged to apply)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
• Comfortable standing for long periods and performing physical tasks (lifting, carrying, cleaning)
• Previous kitchen or food service experience is an asset, but not required
• Food Safety Certification is an asset (training may be provided)
