DHL Express has an opening for a Controlling Manager in our Lachine, QC. This role is responsible for directing and performing financial analysis and reporting activities to support short-term and long-range strategic plans and operating budgets. Establishes budgeting systems and procedures and monitors actual performance against budget. Evaluates data, prepares forecasts, and analyzes trends in sales, operations, general business conditions, and other related areas. Identifies performance issues and makes recommendations to management for remedial actions. Prepares and distributes periodic financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensures all reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
- Oversee financial modeling and the assessment and evaluation of alternative financial plans as they relate to the organization's objectives.
- Contributes to corporate financial strategic planning, analysis and review through the identification of cost-saving and profit-maximizing opportunities to improve current processes and provide meaningful information to key decision makers.
- Presents budget and forecast recommendations to senior leadership team.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in DHL’s proprietary financial systems in full alignment with global reporting standards and requirements.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports, including variance analysis, narratives and recommendations for various stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Provide Controlling services and financial support across all business units, acting as a trusted business partner.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple functions to ensure best practice. Work closely with Functional leads and Cost Centre Managers in understanding key cost drivers
- Lead and support month-end closing activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies.
- Manage ad-hoc analyses and special projects as assigned by management, delivering actionable insights and recommendations
- Ensure all financial reports, disclosures, and documentation comply with relevant professional standards and corporate policies.
- Monitor P&L performance against budget, forecast, and prior-year results, proactively identifying variances and trends.
- Support functions with the timely preparation and review of Business Case Applications (BCA) and follow up on post-BCA reviews.
- Implement and maintain all CRISP requirements, and coordinate and review internal control assessments in collaboration with relevant functions
- Review of the ESG report to ensure its accuracy and completeness
Do you have what it takes?
- Extensive depth of expertise and knowledge in operations in logistics/ transportation industry and other specialized functions or business areas.
- Viewed as expert in functional or business area within DHL.
- Preferably bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economy or related fields.
- At least 4-5 years’ relevant experience in management accounting, financial accounting or cost management, preferably in logistics/ transportation industry.
- Professional certification required in some areas.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Inquisitive and analytical.
- Proficient in Software skills, especially Excel, Power BI and if possible, SAP and TM1.
- Bilingual: English and French
