Salary Range: $92,151 -$115,189 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Who we are: Corporate Finance is a division of Finance, committed to maximizing the value of financial planning with a fixed control on long term financial strategic viewpoints and execution for the Region of Peel.
There are six service groups within Corporate Finance: Financial Policy and Development Financing, Accounting Services, Loss Management and Insurance Services, Financial Systems Development Support, Peel Housing Corporation Finance and Treasury Services.
What you will do in this role:
This position will be responsible for leading Peel’s Sales Tax and CRA filing processes. This role will also work with the team to assist in internal and external financial reporting related to specific Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) requirements and the annual Financial Information Return (FIR) reporting to the Province.
- Responsible for the management and coordination (planning, controlling and monitoring) of the ROP and PHC tax accounts
- Track and monitor the ROP and PHC CRA accounts, GST Deposits, Notices of (Re)assessments, and other CRA communications
- Ensure that all AP transactions, AR transactions, TCA activities, payments, and expenses are in line with applicable Regional by-laws and accurately accounted for as per CRA guidance
- Prepare and file monthly PHC and ROP tax filings to the CRA
- Responsible for processes and procedures to ensure accurate GST/HST treatment in AP, AR, Treasury and Financial Reporting
- Provide expert guidance and direction relating to the accounting and reporting of Tax and GST/ HST to Finance and program staff
- Research and assist with the implementation of any CRA Tax standard changes, including the development of policies, training and note disclosures
- Investigate any tax related transactions including new vendor setup, invoices, vouchers, POs and Tax entries to ensure compliance with CRA standards
- Assist in the year-end financial statement consolidation process, including preparing note disclosures
- Liaise with the external auditors for the interim and year-end audits, providing working papers and respond to auditor enquiries
- Assist in the annual Financial Information Return as per the established Provincial deadlines and in accordance with the Provincial instructions
What the role requires:
- University degree in business administration, commerce or economics
- CPA, ACCA, CFA accounting designation
- Minimum 5 years progressive sales tax/business experience, preferably in the public sector
- Knowledge and understanding of Sales Tax and CRA guidelines
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Highly adaptable and able to manage changes in processes and systems
- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills
- Ability to do independent research and analysis
- Experience with the preparation of audit working papers and financial statements
- Proficiency in developing and using spreadsheet financial models and tools
- Thorough knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)

Nice to have:
- Knowledge and understanding of SAP, IBM Maximo, and any other ERP systems
- Experience working with nVision

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected along with occasional travel to attend site inspections or meetings at Regional facilities or as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
