Summary of responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the General Manager, Human Resources is responsible for operational leadership and planning, acts as a strategic advisor to senior leadership as well as overseeing all activities related to the Human Resources (HR) function. This includes overseeing the full range of HR programs encompassing the areas of staffing, employee engagement, onboarding/offboarding processes, compensation and benefits, pay equity, organizational design and development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), change management, performance management, employee relations, human resources management systems, directly related to human resources programming and conducting ongoing needs assessments and gap analysis of these programs.The General Manager, Human Resources performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
- A degree from a recognized university with a specialization in human resources management, labour relations, public or business administration, or in any other field relevant to the duties of the position.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience with progressive responsibility in related human resources disciplines;
- A minimum of five(5) years of management experience, leading cross-functional HR teams;
- Outstanding interpersonal, relationship management and change management skills, with the ability to channel different points of view, establish and maintain trusting relationships and credibility, work collaboratively, negotiate effectively and lead people through times of change;
- Thinks strategically, creatively, analytically and pragmatically; able to anticipate future needs and identify opportunities;
- Well-developed analytical and planning skills, with initiative to provide advice, solve problems and implement improvements;
- Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment, adapt to frequently changing and concurrent priorities, and respond to evolving internal business needs, as well as external factors. Project management skills are a required;
- Strong understanding and proficiency in Human Resources Management System’s capabilities;
- Demonstrated ability to remain objective, resilient and flexible in order to manage organizational and personnel issues;
- Maintains confidentiality and manages sensitive situations with excellent judgment and discretion;
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) certification is preferred
