Health Planning Facilitator
Health Services – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention
Status: Contract Full Time (Duration:13-months)
Salary Range: $94,455 - $118,069
Hiring Range: $94,455 - $106,262

Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week

Core public health functions are assessment and surveillance, health promotion and healthy policy development, health protection, disease prevention and emergency management.
What you will do in this role:
- Provide expertise to support the Built Environment team to integrate evidence-informed health considerations into development practices and processes that enhance health-supportive built environments
- Lead aspects of the Peel Public Health’s Healthy Development Assessment (HDA) program, such as acting as the program spokesperson, support program implementation, program monitoring as well as opportunities for continuous quality improvement and increased impact
- Build external relationships to identify and negotiate opportunities to apply elements of healthy development into policies, plans, guidelines and standards
- Internally, represent regional interests related to public health from a built environment perspective
- Act as a resource across public health to identify project and policy opportunities and maintaining cross-divisional and cross-departmental partnerships
- Provide research and analysis support to the Built Environment team on emerging practices, policy, and Provincial legislation relevant to health-supportive built environments
- Negotiate and promote health-supportive built environments in accordance with the Region’s Strategic Plan and Peel Public Health’s Strategic Plan
What the role requires:
- A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted)
- Masters or Honours Degree in Planning or a related field plus expert knowledge and further specialization in the planning field
- Recognized as a Registered Professional Planner and full membership in OPPI/CIP
- Minimum of three years of related development experience
- Expert knowledge and ability to interpret and advise on healthy and sustainable land-use and transportation practices and policies at the local and provincial level.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills/Abilities:
- Strong project management, leadership and facilitation skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, report writing, and commenting on development applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including making presentations to Regional Council, staff, departmental leadership or the public
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflicting agendas and persuade others in order to meet program, project and event objectives
- Experience in evaluating and integrating analyses that come from multiple sources in order to provide recommendations

Work Mode: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
