ABOUT THE TEAM

Facility Management at RRC Polytech is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus buildings and infrastructure across multiple sites. The team supports over 2 million square feet of facilities, including academic, research, and support spaces.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Carpenter is primarily responsible for carrying out minor renovation projects such as building partitions, wall systems, installing doors, repairing damaged walls, fabricating and installing signage, minor painting and masonry work, installing ergonomic improvements, general carpentry, furniture repair and modifications, and conducting preventative maintenance inspections at all RRC facilities. The Carpenter may be required to perform minor repairs to ceiling and flooring systems.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Provincial Red Seal Journeyperson's Certificate in Carpentry
Several years’ experience as a journey man carpenter in a commercial building
Detailed working knowledge and practical experience in the areas of carpentry, furniture repair, painting, drywall, masonry and millwork
Proficiency in using machinery and hand tools relative to the trade
General knowledge of building construction by-laws, codes, and standards
Ability to read and interpret campus maps, engineered drawings, blue prints, schematics or other basic drawings
Good understanding of building materials, fixtures, and accessories
Knowledge of occupational hazards and special procedures applicable to the work. Observes safety regulations and safe work practices
Ability to complete and maintain tasks assign to them through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Ability to problem solve in areas of design or repair of unique or one-off projects
Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

NICE TO HAVE

Openness to using AI tools as relevant to role specific work
Experience working within a work order environment
Experience working in a post-secondary, institutional or large commercial environment

Salary Range for this position: $66,123 - $93,246 per annum
Generous Paid Vacation: full-time employees accumulate a minimum of 15-days vacation per year, increasing to 30 days with service, while full-time Instructors accumulate 44 days per year. Information on casual and part-time vacation accrual is outlined in the Collective Agreement or the Terms and Conditions for Excluded Employees as applicable
December Break: employees receive time off with pay during the period between Boxing Day and New Year's Day

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
Incumbent must hold a valid class 5 driver`s license
This position is subject to audiometric assessments
Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check
Incumbent must provide a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
